From soil health and pest management to biodiversity and vineyard resilience\, these sessions connect real-time decisions in the field with long-term vineyard performance. \nThe series concludes on July 29 at The Culinary Institute of America at Copia with a half-day conference bringing these insights together.\n\n\n\n\nOrganic in Action: ​Napa Valley Field Days\n1 CE Credit per Field Day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nJuly 8 – Baldacci Family Vineyards – Soil Fertility\nJoin us for an interactive field day focused on soil fertility in organic vineyards\, led by Garrett Buckland of Premiere Viticulture and Michael Baldacci of Baldacci Family Vineyards.\nYou’ll explore how organic fertility programs can improve vine health\, support soil biology\, and build resilience in the face of drought and changing climate conditions. Hear firsthand from growers and practitioners implementing these strategies in the vineyard and leave with insights you can apply to your own operation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nJuly 15 – Quintessa – Beneficial Insects & Pest Management\nVineyard manager Martin Galvan and winemaker Rebekah Wineburg walk through the practical foundations of IPM in an organic setting at Quintessa\, from identifying vineyard pests and beneficial insects to the monitoring techniques that inform decision-making throughout the season.\nAlongside Houston Wilson\, Assoc. Cooperative Extension Specialist in the Deptartment of Entomology at UC Riverside\, the discussion covers habitat management\, insectary plantings that support biological control\, and the cultural practices that bring an integrated approach to life across the vineyard.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n​July 22 – Opus One Trial Vineyard – Ground Cover\n​Join Kimberlee Marinelli\, Dave Kaplow\, and Selena Vengco for a field-based discussion exploring how ground cover management can support soil health\, water management\, and vineyard resilience in organic systems. Using Opus One’s native grass trial as a case study\, speakers will share the goals behind the project\, review first-year establishment results\, and discuss practical considerations for species selection\, weed management\, grazing and mowing\, erosion control\, and soil moisture management. Participants will walk the trial site\, examine both successes and challenges in the field\, and gain practical insights into implementing ground cover strategies in Napa Valley vineyards.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganic Winegrowing Conference\nJuly 29 | 9 am – 1 pm | CIA at Copia\n\n\nRegister Here \n\n\nThe conference will open with a keynote conversation featuring two respected organic producers – Steve Matthiasson of Matthiasson Wines and Jason Haas of Tablas Creek Vineyard\, discussing how organic winegrowing operates across different wine regions\, climates\, and market segments with practical takeaways for growers at any scale. \nA featured panel discussion will include representatives from the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and the Regenerative Organic Alliance\, examining the relationship between organic\, regenerative\, and Regenerative Organic Certified® farming frameworks.
