Ross’ career to date has been highlighted by the classic pairing of spreadsheets and food.
After getting an education in accounting, Ross started his career in business risk consulting where his interest in Microsoft Excel, data analysis, and process improvement began. In search of greater fulfillment and after a move to the mountains of western North Carolina in 2018 (decided on through a massive spreadsheet, of course), Ross professionally pursued his lifelong passion for food and cooking. He immersed himself in his new home’s incredible local food system, using data and spreadsheets to find ways to work more efficiently and increase consumer access to intentionally-sourced and -crafted meals.
Ross joined the ROA in 2024 and now has the opportunity to harmonize his classic pairing of career highlights through his role at the ROA and what the organization represents for the world’s farming future. His goal is to support change in the food landscape to move away from its current exploitative nature of prioritizing convenience over quality and spending the least for the most. Sharing is caring, and food is one of the most powerful ways of sharing. So, care should go into the food (and textiles, cosmetics, etc!) throughout the full process of getting it to our bellies.
Ross enjoys his days and mountain views with his wife Cassie and their two cats, Kitty Kat and Stevie. He also helps to organize his area’s weekly farmers’ market and continues to cook both for friends & fun and occasionally for his community.
