Press Release: 2026 Regenerative Organic Nutrient Density Report
First Regenerative Organic Nutrition Report Puts Measurable Data Behind How Food Is Grown
One year into their partnership, Edacious and the Regenerative Organic Alliance publish nutrient testing results for 46 Regenerative Organic Certified® products from 13 brands
[Sacramento CA] Oct. 8, 2026
The Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) and Edacious today released the 2026 Regenerative Organic Nutrition Report, the first public, multi-brand dataset on the nutritional quality and safety of Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) foods. One year into a four-year collaboration, more than 50 ROC™ products have been tested through the Edacious Food Lab, and 13 brands have chosen to publish their results for 46 of them.
“Nutrient density” has become one of the most-used phrases in food, from federal dietary guidance to the food-as-medicine movement to product packaging. Yet very little published data connects how food is grown to what is actually in it. The report is designed to help close that gap by sharing results openly, including where the evidence is still early.
Key findings from the first year of testing include:
- Fat quality: Omega-6 to omega-3 ratios across ROC™ ground meat tested ranged from 1.06:1 to 2.29:1, compared with roughly 8.3:1 reported for conventional grain-fed ribeye. ROC™ ground beef from three separate brands all tested higher in total omega-3 than the USDA reference, from 124% to 388% higher.
- Fiber: Eight of the ten ROC™ beans and legumes tested from SIMPLi qualified as a rich source of dietary fiber, and the remaining two qualified as a good source. All ten tested higher in phosphorus than their USDA reference.
- Selenium: Several ROC™ legumes qualified as a rich source of selenium where the USDA reference shows only a trace. A single serving of SIMPLi black lentils provided 113% of the Daily Value. Because selenium in plants tracks closely with soil content, this is a pattern the partnership will watch as more data comes in.
- Safety: Every product in SIMPLi’s ROC™ legume, seed, and oil portfolio tested below the limit of quantification for heavy metals.
ROA and Edacious will continue tracking these patterns as testing expands toward the partnership’s goal of more than 200 ROC™ products, including comparisons with conventional, organic and regenerative non-organic foods.
The brands that invested in testing and published their results are Alexandre Family Farm, Applegate, Bionaturae by Jovial Foods, ButcherBox, Charcutnuvo, Lundberg, Niman Ranch, Patagonia Provisions, Philosopher Foods, SIMPLi, StarWalker Organic Farms, Wild Idea Buffalo and Zego.
“When we launched this partnership, the goal was to back what farmers have long believed with real, measurable data,” said Christopher Gergen, CEO of the Regenerative Organic Alliance. “One year in, these brands have done something rare in our industry: they’ve put their results on the table for everyone to see. This report is a starting point, and we’ll keep building the evidence as testing grows.”
“Certifications like Regenerative Organic Certified® have done the hard work of defining what good farming looks like and holding farms to it. Verified data adds the next layer of trust: measuring what ends up in the food. Our partnership with the Regenerative Organic Alliance is built on the idea that the two belong together. Movements grow when the people inside them can show their work, and that’s what this report starts to do for regenerative organic. It exists because brands chose to invest in primary testing and put their results on the record. Together, we are driving trust and transparency in the food system,” said Eric J. Smith, founder and CEO of Edacious.
“For more than a decade, our members have trusted us to source meat the right way. Vague claims have never cut it for our customers, and more and more consumers are waking up to what goes into a claim. Having primary data about our products from a third-party partner like Edacious is one more proof point behind the trust and transparency our members deserve.” – Mike Salguero, CEO, ButcherBox
