The Regenerative Organic Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing regenerative organic agriculture worldwide. Our mission is to transform the global food system by promoting regenerative organic practices that restore soil health, biodiversity, and human well-being. Through the development of the Regenerative Organic Certification, we support farmers, ranchers, brands, and consumers in the transition to a more sustainable and equitable food system.
Location: Mexico/Central America Based (100% Remote)
Reports to: Certification Manager
Job Type: Considered self-employed, contracted outside the USA.
Salary: $2,200- $2,500 USD per Month
Start Date: September 2025
Position Overview:
The Certification Specialist plays a central role in the daily operations of the certification program, ensuring coordination, consistency, and smooth workflow across the team. This role owns key internal systems, drives certification processes forward, and ensures clear communication and follow-through throughout the team. In addition to coordinating operations, the coordinator is fully trained in all certification functions and is expected to take action on technical tasks as needed. The position ensures that cases move efficiently through the pipeline, maintains strong internal organization, and provides direct support to the full certification team. This role is designed for someone who takes full ownership of their work, contributes proactively, and brings both structure and flexibility to a fast-paced, mission-driven program.
Initial Objectives (First 3–6 Months):
- Take full ownership of internal certification tracking tools; ensure all active cases are clearly tracked and documented
- Independently prepare and organize certification case files for technical review
- Participate in full training for Certification Specialist core tasks; demonstrate readiness to complete technical intake and review steps
- Provide technical case support
- Identify and propose improvements to internal workflows or coordination systems
- Establish strong communication rhythms with both the Certification Manager and Certification Specialists to support aligned team operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage certification tracking tools, internal workflows, and documentation systems to keep client cases moving efficiently
- Monitor workflows and proactively address bottlenecks or gaps to keep certification processes on track.
- Take initiative to prepare certification case files and ensure all documentation is complete and ready for technical review
- Maintain strong internal communication loops, ensuring handoffs and case transitions are smooth and timely
- Step into technical tasks—such as file review, documentation assessment, and communication with Certification Bodies (CBs) or clients—as needed to support program continuity.
- Support continuous improvement of certification SOPs, tools, and workflows in collaboration with team members and the Certification Manager
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Experience and Skills:
- Deep passion for regenerative organic agriculture, food systems, farming, animal welfare, and social justice
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment
- Clear and effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong multitasking and time-management skills with consistent attention to detail
- Professional and effective in written, verbal, and virtual communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Asana
- Experience with database management systems required.
Qualifications:
- Experience with certification, compliance, or sustainability programs strongly preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required
- Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with certification documentation, audit processes, or quality systems is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences or trade shows
- Comfortable working on a computer for extended periods.
